HOUSING SURVEY OF JAPAN (1988) REPORTS THAT THERE ARE LITTLE DECREASE OF RELOCATION OF DWELLING IN MAJOR METROPOLITAN AREAS ESPECIALLY TOWARD OWNED HOUSES, WHILE THE RATIO OF RELOCATION AMONG OWNED HOUSES ARE RELATIVELY HIGH IN THE AREAS. IN THIS PAPER WE ANALYZED WITH THE PLACE AND HOUSE TYPE OF PREVIOUS RESIDENCE OF RECENT OWNERS. AMONG DETACHED HOUSES WE FOUND OUT THE MOVING FROM CITY CENTER TO SUBURBAN RESIDENTIAL AREA OF TOKYO, AND THE MOVING IN THE SAME CITY CENTER OF KINKI AREA. AND MANY OWNERS OF APARTMENT HOUSE WERE FROM RENTED HOUSE IN THE SAME OR OUTSIDE SECTOR.
