THIS STUDY ATTEMPTS TO DEVELOP POLICY AND PLANNING TOOLS FOR IMPROVING CHILDREN'S PLAY ENVIRONMENTS AND ANIMATING PLAY THROUGH CASE STUDIES IN SIX CITIES, AS PART OF A SERIES OF INTERNATIONAL CASE STUDIES. THREE SCHOOL DISTRICTS WERE CHOSEN FOR INTERVIEWS EMPLOYING A QUESTIONNAIRE AND A MAP. PARALLEL OBSERVATIONS HAVE PROVIDED DATA AS TO WHERE AND HOW CHILDREN ACTUALLY PLAY.
