The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake made a great disaster around Sannomiya in Kobe. There had been a lot of shops, restaurants and bars around the north of Sannomiya Station till the earthquake occurred. This paper reports the reconstruction process of the buildings and the conversion process of the tenant shops of this area after one and a half years have passed. The characteristics are concluded as follows. (1) Comparing with the two other streets, Higashimon Street, the most crowded one in Kobe, has not been enough reconstructed yet. (2) The Earthquake accelerated the speed of the tenant conversion. (3) Shops for the young, for example, kara-oke and izakaya, has been increasing.
