Abstract
Recently, there are many urban renaissance project at the periphery of metropolis terminal station. This study is aims to make clear urban beauty concept by tracing the history of urban planning and projects at the periphery of Osaka station during the Prewar Period. Main conclusions are as follows. 1) Early period of urban beauty concept aspired to make stately street view and building. 2) Next period, there ware interest of regulation of building height and large block refined site. 3) Then a proposal was on table that possessing vista and eye stop on super block site view like as civic centre of European and American metropolis. 4) Late period of urban beauty concept was combined former various ideas.
