Citizens' Consciousness and Evaluation on the Space of Urban Railway Stations and its Surroundings in Tokyo Metropolitan Area

Abstract
Urban railway station has played a major role in a spatial and functional integration concerning the space around station. However, the space of station and its surroundings is quite unsatisfactory for citizens. In the background, there is the fact that the undertaker who builds and managers each facility is different. In this study, we attempt to analyze the relational structures of meanings between total evaluations and each evaluation in the space of station and its surroundings. In order to select the target station, 86 stations of southwest district of Tokyo Metropolitan area are classified into 8 groups by cluster analysis. According to this classification, 8 stations are selected for questionnaire survey and analyzed those data to clear the citizens' consciousness.
