Abstract
This study isThis study aims to confirm that a concept of "enclosure" is an available method of knowing form of townscape in design guideline for residential areas in UK cities. It would be cleared that in some Design Guideline of UK cities, a concept "enclosure" have been used to know and show form of townscape without its definition, and form of "enclosure" spaces would setup from 3 factors, theses are (1)space with sites, streets and other open spaces, (2)façade elevations of architecture or landscape and (3)the sky and air. I think that if we could avail this concept to townscape design, we would become to be able to know and show easily forms of them and discuss about the value of them.
