Abstract
Ring roads are planned and constructed for the urban areas in order to improve urban problems caused by the heavy traffic flows in the central area, such as traffic congestion, traffic accidents, regional deterioration and others. The Outer Ring Road of Kanazawa conurbation area also planned and its mountainside part was constructed and used by the public from April 2006. This paper analyses the change of traffic volume transformation and roadside built-up area based on surveys of traffic flows and other statistics as results of the construction of Ring Road. As results of this study, it is clarified that a certain volume of the traffic volume are transformed from the central area to the ring road, and the traffic jam and the traffic accident are decreased. It is also observed that the built-up area has been experienced land use urbanization steadily.
