Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to consider the significance of "negative heritage" in historical environment from the state and possibility of war-related sites in Okinawa. War-related sites are categorized as military-related sites, battle and ravage-related sites and wartime-related sites. In Okinawa battle and ravage-related sites make up a major part of war-related site compared with mainland of Japan. War-related sites can take roles to recall what were lost and what were reconstructed because of its complexed nature of war-related sites in Okinawa.
