Abstract
This study aims to clarify the changing community structure in urban slums where experience many development activities in order to improve their living environment in Bangkok Metropolitan Area (BMA). As the result, the following were made clear. 1. Community organizations in BMA have been organized based on traditional self-help relationship with clear aims for living, 2. Structure of community organization is changing from traditional relationship to bureaucratic/systematic one through development activities, 3. Leader of community is limited to person who has richer socioeconomic attribute by advanced tasks without proper supportive system, and 4. Such gap between community leader and residents tends to be an obstacle for participation process for sustainable development activities.
