Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyze the driving routes on sunny and shady roads in urban area. First, we derive the shading conditions affected by building heights along roads, and define three types ofsunny conditions of roads. Then we formulate route choice model on grid network and apply it to the central area of Sapporo in order to examine the impact of the direction of the street, the location of origin and destination, the height of building, and the width of the roads. Finally, we show two types of Pareto-optimal routes associated with shorter distances and sunny conditions in Shibuya Area.
