Abstract

This study aims to reveal the role of open space in housing complex build by UR as children's playground. By observing children's activity in selected housing complex and its surroundings, it would be possible to analyze actual usage in both macro scale and micro scale. Especially to analyze and compare what is planned in open space and actual usage by children, it is important to focus on layout planning in housing complex since it decides accessibility and recognition of open space for children. The results refers the fact that open space in housing complex still have important role as children's playground not only in housing complex itself but also in district near housing complex. This difference between planning and actual needs of children' can be occured when layout planning is open for neighborhoods.
