Abstract
Productive open spaces in urban areas keep decreasing even though agricultural values have greatly changed. Farmers must update district designation in 2022, so these spaces may decrease at once. The purpose of this study is to clarify the real situation of the transformation of agricultural areas in Nerima Ward, Tokyo and to seek tasks for the conservation of farmland in urban areas. In conclusion, many farmlands remained to transform into houses which are considered as oversupply. However, recently it is newly confirmed that welfare facilities are chosen for land use after transformation. On the other hand, preserved farmlands tend to be divided into multiple uses with diversification of agricultural management.
