Abstract

The purpose of this study is to clarify the process of space improvement and formation pattern of settlements in the Rias coastal village in the tsunami-prone area. As space improvement, construction of tsunami reconstruction and tsunami disaster prevention facilities, fishing port facilities, road network, and location process of public facilities were grasped. The following became clear through this study. First, in villages close to the main roads, if there is land that can be developed, the public sector creates residential land and the residence expand. Second, in small-scale fishing villages located on the peninsula, gradual improvements in fishing ports and transportation networks have been made, but population outflows from the villages are significant.
