Abstract
The flood of a seasonal rain flont occured in July 1953 (Shohwa28). After that, the flood of tyhoon No.13 occured in September 1953 (shohwa 28). These are the flood of old and heavy damage disaster. The hydrological data remain in these flood respectively. The rainfall of seasonal rain flont visited in the north part of Wakayama prefecture from the night of July 17 to the morning of July 18. Its 24 hour rainfall was 400-500mm, and each river increased instantly in water volume. The highest water level recorded 6.00m July 18 at Funato. The Typhoon No.13 was the typical going north and rainy typhoon. It brought heavy rainfall in each of Kinki area. The typhoon did great damage in Wakayama prefecture. The sufferer was 47, 055 persons. The highest water level recorded 6.68m at Funato.
