Abstract
The Sumida River, running through the eastern basin of Tokyo, used to be one of the main traffic means and often caused flood damages such as inundation, flood tides and so On.
During our highly rapid economic growth, We had constructed perpendicular banking along the river, which was named on “KAMISORT TEIBOU”, to protect against these to damages.
In this reports_we will investigate each case of Perpendicular Banking along the Sumida River in viewpoints of both histories and technologies, and will finally find out why so-called KAMISORI TEIBOU was established.
