Trip Conversion Model for Urban Goods Movement

Abstract

It is necessary to convert commodity flow into the truck trips in transportation planning. In this paper we have proposed a trip conversion model for urban goods movement. We divide the trips into three types; first trip, middle trip, and last trip. Then we apply the gravity model for each trip and sum up by OD pairs. The models are estimated for foods products and clothes using a 1982 commodity flow survey in the Tokyo metropolitan area. we get improved restults over previous surveys.
