Development of the practical package to evaluate alternatives for urban consolidation, SLIM CITY

Abstract

This study aims to develop the new system, SLIM CITY (Smart Layout Indicators to Materialize Compact City), to evaluate urban consolidation projects in residential scale. The strong points of this system are, 1) detail analysis with residential zone project scale, not by municipal scale, 2) reliable analysis from statistical point of view with more than 57, 000 samples, 3) transferable system to any city in Japan and 4) rich index set for evaluation. The proposed SLIM CITY is applied to real city and several new scenarios of urban form have been evaluate.
