Abstract

1. Carex Kobomugi and C. macrocephala have many similarities viz., the upper epidermal cells on the mesophyll are short, the stomata are rhombic elliptical and thick-walled, the spine cells in the margins are robust, each of them forming a larger spine shape connected with the cells accompanying them, and the smaller vascular bundles have fibre cells on the upper sides, etc.
2. Along with the many similarities, there are many differences between them, these are analytically shown as below.
{Cell-band on the nerve never occurring in the upper epidermis. The tissues without chlorophyll occurring widely beneath the upper epidermis, and separately below the under epidermis ……C. Kobomugi Cell-bands on the nerves apparent in the upper epidermis. Hinge cells in one layer or, obscurely, in two layers. No special tissues ever existing on the inner side of the epidermis ……C. marcrocephala
