Abstract

Ten species of mosses involved seven genera were studied karyologically. Metaphase and heteropycnotic chromosomes in the mitotic cells of gametophyte were observed. The chromosome numbers and karyotypic formulae are determined as follows:
Trichodon tenuifolius K(n)=13=2V(H)+2V+8v+m(h)
Pohlia flexuosa K(n)=11=V(H)+2V+7(5v+2j)+m(h)
P. proligera K(n)=11=V(H)+2V+7(5v+2j)+m(h)
Philonotis falcata K(n)=6=V(H)+2V+2J+j (h)
Macromitrium makinoi K(n)=11=V(H)+V+8(6v+2j)+m(h)
Rhacopilum aristatum K(n)=21=2V(H)+4V+2J+12(8v+4j)+m(h)
Leptodon cryphaeoides K(n)=11=V(H)+3V+J+5(3v+2j)+m(h)
L. dendroides K(n)=11=V(H)+4V+J+4(2v+2j)+m(h)
Duthiella flaccida K(n)=11=V(H)+2J+7(5v+2j)+m(h)
D. wallichii K(n)=11=V(H)+2J+7(3v+4j)+m(h)
