This paper proposes a new model of non-interacting three-dimensionalWannier excitons interacting with photons which takes into account radiationreaction, vacuum fluctuation of photons, quantum correlation, center-of-mass motion, and the fermionic and the cooperative nature of excitons. The model successfully explains why the giant oscillator strength effect is ineffective for optical nonlinearity of the excitons due to phase space filling (Pauli exclusion principle) but is effective for their spontaneous emission. It is pointed out that the quantum correlation between excitons and photons and the cooperative nature of excitons are key points for understanding the giant oscillator strength effect.
