The effect of aspherical electron distribution on the atomic scattering factor for electrons was studied. General formulae of atomic scattering factors fe(s) for electrons and fX(s) for X-rays were derived on the basis of Weiss and Freeman’s method of calculation [J. Phys. Chem. Solids 10 (1959) 147]. In the case of electron scattering the value of \displaystylelims→0fe(s) depends on the direction along which s tend to the limit. The anisotropies of fe(s) and fX(s) due to p-electrons in atoms of the second period of the periodic table were compared.
