From the linear relation in a plot of the NMR shift and the magnetic susceptibility for metallic platinum as a function of temperature, the contribution of the orbital paramagnetism of d-electrons to the shift is deduced. The values of the orbital paramagnetic susceptibility and molecular field coefficient for platinum metal is also deduced by making use of the value of 〈r−3〉 for platinum atom. A short remark on the definition of the NMR shift in metal is given.
