Possibility of the Negative Absorption of a Cold Plasma in a Cylindrical Cavity

Abstract

The cylindrical cavity coaxial with a plasma column along the static magnetic field is analyzed. The modes examined are those which reduce to the TM₁₁₁, TE₁₁₁ and TE₀₁₁ modes in the absence of the plasma. Emphasis is placed on the case when the negative absorption are expected to occur in the vicinity of the electron cyclotron frequency.
