The orbital paramagnetic susceptibilities (χorb) in Ni and Cr metals are calculated based on Kubo-Obata’s theory and using the energy band calculated by Fletcher in Ni metal, the energy band calculated by Asdente and Friedel, and the one modified by Lomer in Cr metal. With the assumption of rigid band model, χorb In Ni–Cu and Cr–V alloys are calculated. The calculated values are in fair agreement with those obtained by Shimizu et. al. The temperature dependence of χorb is also calculated. In Ni metal and Ni–Cu alloys, we find appreciable temperature dependence of χorb and that χso is not negligible. In Cr metal and Cr–V alloys, χorb is nearly temperature independent. Finally, the diamagnetic susceptibilities due to 3d and 4s electrons are estimated to be small, and the field dependence of susceptibilities is discussed.
