The directions of the lines joining two protons in water molecules (pp pairs) in Rochelle salt were determined by means of proton magnetic resonance. The result shows that the directions of the 4 kinds of pp pairs in the unit cell agree within the error with the ones estimated from the EFG tensors of deuteriums in deuterated Rochelle salt, respectively, which were determined by Bjorkstam and Willmorth. The direction cosines and the distances of the pp pairs thus obtained are 0.52, 0.47, 0.72, 1.49 A for the water molecule (7), in the notation of Beevers and Hughes, 0.21, 0.97, 0.14, 1.57 A for (8), 0.88, 0.34, 0.34, 1.59 A for (9) and 0.39, 0.33, 0.86, 1.69 A for (10).
