Experimental studies of the parametric excitation of Bernstein waves in inhomogeneous plasmas are made. The threshold becomes minimum near the double resonance where the upper hybrid frequency fh equals twice the electron frequency 2fc (fh=2fc), and depends on the density gradient of the inhomogeneous plasma, The experimental results can be interpreted by the theory in which the electromagnetic wave excites the Bernstein waves parametrically via the density gradient.
