Electric field gradient tensors at 87Rb sites in the paraelectric phase were obtained by observing the angular dependence of second order quadrupolar shifts. Temperature dependences of resonance lines were also measured from 60 to −105°C. It is found that in the paraelectric phase Rb atoms are located on the mirror plane perpendicular to the a axis. With lowering temperature, each resonance line splits into two in the incommensurate phase. On further cooling, some of lines become too broad to be observed. Several degrees above Tc, new lines appear and spectrum becomes essentially the same as that observed below Tc.
