Backscattered yield of H2+ ions was measured for scattered angles less than 2.00 when 500–700 keV H2+ ions impinge on a polycrystalline Au target with an incident angle 0.5°. The observed yield was well interpreted by the recombination of diprotons leaving the target surface.
