Heating mechanism by waves near the electron cyclotron frequency is theoretically analyzed in the current-sustaining plasma. The plasma can be heated more effectively by its anisotropy in addition to the electron cyclotron resonance. The heated region becomes broader than that of Maxwellian plasma.
