One-electron energy levels of atoms are calculated for an effective potential obtained from the relativistic (Remark: Graphics omitted.) model proposed by Tomishima. Use is made of Moore’s approximation method to solve the Dirac equation. Through a detailed comparison of the results with those of the SCF calculations as well as those of experiment, it is shown that the present calculation gives quite satisfactory results over a wide range of levels and atomic species. The agreement of the calculated and experimental energies is particularly good as to electrons bound in the inner region of an atom. Although the agreement with experiment is less close for outer electron energies, the present calculation still gives a reasonable estimate of them.
