In this paper, we reported some major findings on an eight years'follow-up study of 18 extremely low birthweight children. First, we presented Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children Revised(WISC-R)at age 8 years. Then, we reported the 8year longitudinal outcomes of the developmental and intelligence tests, as well as the Developmental Test of Visual Perception(DTVP). Based on the results of the VIQ and PIQ scores of WISC-R at age 8 years, there presented no problem with A group(VIQ and PIQ scores ≧85)while some problems were detected in B group(VIQ or PIQ scores <85). In B group(6 children), several findings are noteworthy. First, 3 of 6 children revealed a large discrepancy between VIQ and PIQ, which was detected among three-year-olds. Second, 6 children showed the PQ scores ≧82 of DTVP. Third, they also exhibited a rather "clumsy"behavioral pattern. Finally, they were also poor in verbal auditory comprehension. It was suggested that they have minor impairments of higher cortical function.
