Abstract

The North America-specification SUV was the first car employed 3L V6 engine that meets California's Super Low Emission Vehicle(SULEV) standard without secondary Air. We found the effective technique for the HC trap system in process that we compared the HC trap system and the secondary air system. After that, we challenged to reduce HC more. One is to keep the time that injected fuel evaporates on cold start, the other is use of the intake flow control valve(IFCV). We show the possibility that liquid fuel combustion increased in case of using IFCV and we offered that the way to reduce that.
