Abstract
Longitudinal and lateral forces acting on a traveling tire with slideslip angle due to the interaction with dry sand were measured under constant sinkage and slip ratio conditions by small size wheel test equipment. Based on the collected data, a tire model, which calculates longitudinal and lateral forces with sideslip angle, utilized for vehicle motion analysis on dry sand was approximately expressed as simple functions of sinkage and slip ratio. In order to verify the tire model, a numerical simulation and experiment of 4-wheel model vehicle driven with constant wheel velocities and fixed steering angles on flat sand were compared.
