Abstract
Multi-ignition method using auto ignition of diesel oil as ignition source was studied with the aim of improvement of anti-knock performance in a gasoline engine. The experiment and numerical analysis showed that combustion duration was controlled by combustion start timing and spatial distribution of diesel oil, respectively. The widely spreaded distribution of diesel oil prior to ignition onset could realize fast combustion without knock, therefore, indicated thermal efficiency was improved.
