Abstract
Performance of the dimethly ether (DME) engine with the developed common rail type DME injection system was investigateed. The commom rail pressure and the injection timing of the DME engine were optimized to reduce fuel consumption and exhaust gas emissions. The unburned gas emissions from the DME engine was much lower than the value of the previous developed the DME engine with jerk type injection system. Especially at higher speed and load condition, the emissions of CO and THC ware reduced by 95 % and 93 % respectively. The Combustion efficiency at this condition was improved by 2.0% and the fuel consumption also was improved.
