Abstract
Analyzing the cause of degradation in the aftertreatment system of diesel engines is of utmost importance. This report focuses on comprehending the impact of hydrothermal degradation each aftertreatment catalyst installed in a diesel engine, and how it affects the overall performance of the aftertreatment system. To achieve this, numerical calculation was conducted using a hydrothermal degradation model. Analysis of the simulation results revealed that the emission behavior of various gas components is significantly affected not only by the degradation of the selective catalytic reduction catalyst, but also by the degradation of the diesel oxidation catalyst and diesel particulate filter.
