Abstract

The objective of this study was to examine the characteristics of narrow tines for minimum tillage, and to examine the methods using artificial intelligence for the selection of reduced tillage system and tillage tools suitable to the different soil texture, climate and crop conditions.
In order to examine the characteristics of rigid-tines and spring-tines, soil bin experiments were conducted in this report. Shearing processes in soil caused by rigid-tines and spring-tines were observed and the relationship between resistance and tine displacement was measured. Furthermore, experimental study of tines was conducted to examine the dynamic charactristic of soil failure and resistance of rigid-tines and spring-tines. Relationships were examined among the peak force, through force, average force, cycle, area of soil failure, working depth/width ratio, rake angle of tine, working speed and elasticity of tine.
