Abstract
To improve the straw splitting device which was attached to the head feeding combine, the shape of straw splitting cutter and the structure, performance and load characteristics of new straw splitting devices were examined.
The new splitting device consists of revolving shafts made of steel pipes with a diameter of 50mm and roll-type straw splitting cutters in which the vertical ditches of one cutter face the projections of another.
Submerging, for over three days and puddling under low water level reduced the floating rate of straw to about 1%.
The power requirement of the straw splitting device (4th model) is three or six times as that of conventional disk-type straw cutter on the market, but it was confirmed that the power requirement can be reduced by raising revolution speed.
