Abstract

There are two methods in installing camera as the computer-eye of the rice transplant robot. One is that a camera is installed at the center in front of the robot. Another is that two cameras are installed at both sides in front of the robot. Filters are attached to the camera lenses to highlight rice plants. The result showed that the rice plants were highlighted with the filter, but the aimed rice plants were not detected perfectly because the noise of the binary image was too large. The detecting, using the optical image of the rice plants filmed on the rice line, was completed with the brightness-division method proposed in this study. With this method, the image could be taken into the computer under the natural light in any weather condition.
