Comfortable STD was explored to realize the dialysis modalities which enable the more rehabilitated life for patients using various techniques such as dialysis with hypertonic saline and hemodiafiltration for preventing dialysis-related symptoms.
Six and 5 patients were treated by hemodialysis (HD) using Filtryzer® Bl-L (2.10 M2) and B2-300 (2.05 M2), respectively. And the dialysis time has been shortened stepwise from 5hrs × 3/wk to 3hrs × 3/wk. Three patients among them have been maintained by HD of 3hrs × 3/wk for more than 3 months without any apprehensive signs in blood chemistries, acute symptoms such as hypotensive shock, and chronic symtoms such as anemia.
Further study should be needed to assess the influence of the STD in longer period.
