Fingers injuries commonly occur in daily life. Therefore, it is necessary to take an appropriate measure to prevent or mitigate the injuries. However, the mechanical conditions that evoke fingers injuries (bone fracture and skin laceration) are still not clear. In this study, a finite element model of index finger was constructed based on the experimental data regarding bone fracture and skin laceration. The model was then used in conducting numerical analysis of finger pinch accidents. From the analysis results, virtual trauma database of bone fracture and skin laceration was developed to estimate the mechanical conditions that evoke fingers injuries. Moreover, a simple equation to predict the risk of injury was also proposed by statistically analyzing the virtual trauma database.
