Abstract
In order to examine the influence of the pore size of the mesh on the wound healing of the reconstructed trachea, we prepared heavy Marlex mesh (pore size is about 1100μ, polyethylene), fine Marlex mesh (pore size is about 300μ, polypropylene), and several kinds of polyethylene meshes whose pore size are 120, 260, 760, and 1570μ. Using these meshes, we performed patchgraft in the cervical trachea of dogs. The results of fine Marlex mesh and 260μ polyethylene mesh are best. In consideration of these results, we tried 8 cases of tubular graft using fine Marlex mesh with teflon yarns which were inserted as supporting rings. All of the cases are alive and the wound healing of them is good.
