Abstract
We studied the effect of continuous plasma cross circulation (systemic-portal) between totally hepatectomized dogs and donor dogs using two polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) plasma separators. (“PLASMAX”) The specific purposes of this work were (1) to evaluate the possible effect of plasma exchange in acute hepatic failure and (2) to clarify the efficiency of systemic-portal plasma cross circulation.
