A quantitative approach to determine the application and weaning time of the left ventricular assist devices

Abstract

Quantitative circulatory insufficiency was made by reducing cardiac output of TAH goats. During these experiments, arterial lactate and pyruvate, were sequentially measured. On the otherhand, mathematical models for explaining the behavior of anaerobic metabolism in systemic low flow states were made. Using these models, metabolic behavior of TAH goats was evaluated. We believe that a useful method for determining the application and weaning time of the left ventricular assist device is establised.
