Basic and clinical studies on an immunoadsorbent (IM-P)

Abstract

An improved model of IO-2^* has been recently developed. IM-P is a spherical, porous and physicochemical type adsorbent, which consists of polyvinyl aicohol gel, where phenylalanine is immobilized as a ligand. Animal experiment on IM-P plasma perfusion revealed that IM-P had a good biocompatibity. And also it has more efficient and selective capacity of adsorbing immune complex and rheumatoid factorthan protein A sepharose CL4B in vitro test. Thereafter, IM-P plasma perfusion was satisfactorily applied to the patient with rheumatoid arthritis or SLE and under further investigation.
