Abstract
IMP is a newly developed, physicochemical affinity type adsorbent of immunocomplexes. Its structure consists of a polyvinyl-alcohol gel with amino acid ligands of phenyalanine, At present, IMP is used only in plasma perfusion. IMP has a great selectivity for adsorbing immunocomplexes.
In the experiment described below, we performed direct hemoperfusion using IMP in dogs and examined how both the warm-up effect by beginning the perfusion slowly and the administration of PGI2 (prostaglandin I2), ensured its smooth and easily practicable performance. It was also shown that PGI2 suppressed very effectively the adhesion of platelets on the surface of the adsorbent particles.
