Abstract
We have succeeded in developing a cementless total knee prosthesis, in which alumina ceramics is employed for the part coming in contact with the bone and the combination of HDP with alumina ceramics for the sliding part. These components are suported especially on the cortical bone and subchondral bone of femur and tibia. We have performed by means of finite element method in determining the adequacy of the implant design and position and in understanding the contact behaviour of the implant-bone and the mechanical behavior of fixation of the implants.
