Abstract
A comparative study on microaggregate formation and hematological disorders during low flow left heart bypass with the Bio-Pump in four groups of dogs.
In groups I to IV, non-heparin, low dose of heparin (100 IU/kg, bolus), Iloprost (5ng/kg/min) and argatroban (5μg/kg/min) were administered, respectively.
Microaggregate formation determined by screen filtration pressure method was most effectively prevented in group III. Consumption of fibrinogen and hemolysis was accelerated in group I, on the other hand, platelet aggregation and platelet loss were accentuated in group II. Platelet loss, consumption of fibrinogen and hemolysis were effectively prevented in group IV.
Argatroban is a useful agent in order to prevent platelet loss and consumption coagulopathy during left heart bypass with the Bio-Pump.
