Abstract
We studied blood coagulation and fibrinolysis in 18 patients during surgery with cardiopul-monary bypass (CPB) and for 3 days after surgery. FPA was increased during CPB, and TAT levels were elevated significantly during CPB and dropped to normal range at 1 day after operation. Plasminogen was decreased and α2PI-Pm complex was in-creased during CPB. FDP-E dimer increased significantly during CPB. These fingings indecate that despite the presense of heparin, the coagulation system is activated and fibrinolytic activity is increased during CPB.
