Abstract
We used Diafilter-30 to concentrate the blood of the circuit after cardiopulmonary bypass in 24 patient. This device is made of polysulfone membrane hollow-fiber tubes of 250μ in inner diameter. The thickness of the membrane is 75μ and the effective membrane surface is 0.77m2. Patients were divided into four groups according to the flow rate. Flow rate was 100-199ml/min in group I, 200-299ml/min in group II, 300-399 ml/min in group III and 400-499ml/min in group IV. In all groups, the results were suggested that the number of red cell, hemogulobin and serum protein were well concentrated and platelets, BUN, creatinin and electrolytes were well filtrated, however, hemolysis was slightly seen. Number of red cell, hemogulobin, serum protein in group I were better preserved than those in other groups. In conclusion, this device is useful for the hemoconcentration after cardiopulmonary bypass and our result suggested that the most efficient flow rate was from 100ml to 199ml per minutes.
